Facial asymmetry, deep nasolabial folds, and drooping - what should I do? (photos)

Hello. I’m 23 years old. I want to know what’s wrong with my face. The left side has these lines (deep nasolabial folds and a vertical line that looks like marionette lines). Im not sure if it’s drooping/sagging but this side seems bigger than the other. My nose also seems to be located a bit to the left (than the center). I think i also chew on my right side but Im not sure if it’s a cause. Whats wrong with my face and What should do? Thank you.

Hi, and thanks for your question. Every face has differences between the right and left sides. Usually this is genetic, and other factors like which side of your face you sleep on can have an impact. An easy solution for you would be to use dermal fillers to fill in the lines you are noticing and help balance your face. A skilled injector can also use filler to adjust the profile of your nose so that it appears more symmetrical.

Thank you for your question and photographs. First off, I want to ensure you there is nothing "wrong" with your face at all. Every human face has asymmetry. Your facial skeleton may indeed have asymmetry in terms of development and projection of your bones on the left side, which would lead to slight asymmetry of your nose and differences in structural support for the soft tissues overlying your bones. It is not possible to make a thorough facial assessment based on your 2 frontal photographs, however I would counsel you that your nasolabial folds are appropriate for your age and face. Also - many injectors falsely tell patients that filler in the lateral cheeks can help "lift" the lower face and soften the NLF. This is not true. Filler does not lift the face, it simply restores volume to areas where there has been volume loss. At your young age and given the anatomy of your lower face and neck, you are not a candidate for a surgical facelift. If you experience progressive heaviness in your lower face, you can be evaluated for a Buccal Fat Excision to improve lower facial contouring and slimming. Thanks for your question! I think that your face looks just fine and some asymmetry is completely normal. If you are bothered by some minor lines, you could always consider filler as a possibility. Keep in mind that the enemy of good is perfection. Good luck!
