Why is a "Drill hole" canthopexy done?

Raven McCoy
Dear RS doctors, I was wondering about the appropriateness and indeed the legitimacy of the scarily named 'drill hole canthopexy'. I know what it is, but why is it done? Is it supposed to provide longer lasting effects - and does it? I'm 31 and require only a small tightening, and perhaps some vertical (filler) support, but nothing as drastic as a canthoplasty. As I understand, a canthoplasty is much less invasive, but presumably - is this where the drillhole comes in? Thank you!
