Im 27 and had HA facial fillers in April 2019 to my cheeks, jawline, chin and lips by a doctor. However, since the pandemic I've gained quite a bit of weight about 15kg and not only has the filler not gone away but I look very puffy and wide in the cheeks now and my jawline looks wide and jowly. Would weight gain have made it worse and what can I do to help correct this? I’m scared dissolving might leave me with loose skin. Also not sure who to go to- I’m in London.
Answer: Weight gain Weight gain (or weight loss) can make the face look fuller or puffy. It will not affect the longevity of your fillers. Losing the weight you've gained is the best way to restore the look you had prior.

Answer: What you need to know about weight gain and face shape Thank you for your question. Weight gain will certainly affect the shape of the face, although it will not have any impact on your filler specifically. Keep in mind that filler is also a temporary treatment, so it is unlikely you still have much left in your face at this point. Weight loss should be the first step in slimming your face, and then you can consider more filler if you would like to enhance your facial contour.

Answer: Can weight gain affect fillers yes it can, and so can weight loss. I suggest you see na expert. Sounds like the weight is affecting your face not the fillers. I suggest you see an expert and start skin tightening and or facetite/facial sliming procedures. Best, Dr. Emer. Facial Slimming — Masseter Botox, Facetite/Renuvion J Plasma, Buccal Fat Pad Removal, Fillers to sculpt the Cheek/Jawline/Chin
most of my younger clients use fillers to give them shaping especially on the cheeks, jawline, and chin which make the face look more slim and tight; and threads such as PDO or Instalift can build collagen and support the facial shaping and skin looseness over time, slowing down the aging process and given the face a more “snatched” look; and morpheus or pixel8 deep microneedling RF can tighten crepe skin especially on the neck and jawline and is great for long term tightening of the full face, neck and chest; its often used to give the face a slimmer more sculpted look because it tightens the skin and gives lift. an early face lift /neck lift with or without buccal fat pad reduction can be performed as well even in younger clients if they want a different facial shape, maxillofacial surgery with bone breaking or shaving can also be done.
For facial slimming a combination of treatments are always needed. Options include: 1. Buccal fat pad removal to reduce fat on the lower face 2. Factite or Renuvion/J Plasma to tighten the lower face, jawline, and chin to reduce fat and give the jawline and neck tightening and shaping. 3. Botox to the masseter to reduce the muscular size of the jaw giving the face an illusion of being more slender 4. Fillers to the jawline, chin, cheeks, temples and brow help to shape the face and make it more angled and defined 5. early face/neck lift with platysmaplasty or maxillofacial surgery (bone shaving or implants)
6. botox/dysport/xeomin on the neck for platysmala bands and neck tightening
Always use at home EMERAGSKIN dermarolling (see link to Emerageskin x anteageMD roller plus stem cells/hyaluronic acid ampules) and peels like emeragecosmetics enlighten , cosmelan or aerify that can be used to improve skin quality and tighten the skin while improving wrinkles, pigmentation, acne, and Melasma.

Answer: Does weight gain affect facial fillers? Weight gain, with or without facial fillers, can definitely make the face look fuller and wider. This is due to the increase in fat in the face with the weight gain. Gaining weight should not affect the fillers however. If you lose the 15kg that you gained, your face should become more defined and less full.

Answer: Weight gain after Fillers Fillers placed in April 2019 will generally have dissolved within 12-18 months, so long gone. If you are experiencing water retention (puffiness), speak to your family doctor to ensure your thyroid is functioning well and you have no metabolic issues. Your family doctor can also help refer you to a nutritionist and/or discuss prescription medications to help you lose weight. Best, Dr. Tkatch
