Im 27 and had HA facial fillers in April 2019 to my cheeks, jawline, chin and lips by a doctor. However, since the pandemic I've gained quite a bit of weight about 15kg and not only has the filler not gone away but I look very puffy and wide in the cheeks now and my jawline looks wide and jowly. Would weight gain have made it worse and what can I do to help correct this? I’m scared dissolving might leave me with loose skin. Also not sure who to go to- I’m in London.

Answer: Does weight gain affect facial fillers? Weight gain, with or without facial fillers, can definitely make the face look fuller and wider. This is due to the increase in fat in the face with the weight gain. Gaining weight should not affect the fillers however. If you lose the 15kg that you gained, your face should become more defined and less full.

Answer: Weight gain after Fillers Fillers placed in April 2019 will generally have dissolved within 12-18 months, so long gone. If you are experiencing water retention (puffiness), speak to your family doctor to ensure your thyroid is functioning well and you have no metabolic issues. Your family doctor can also help refer you to a nutritionist and/or discuss prescription medications to help you lose weight. Best, Dr. Tkatch
