2.5 years post c section and bulges and slight swelling above c section havenever gone away despite massages and exercise. There’s days where it will swell and look bigger than others and it changes the appearance of my stomach when I sit and in tight clothes .. was told a scar correction would be possible but can’t guarantee that the scar will be as neat. Would laser lipo or vaser help smooth my stomach or will it make the contour or my stomach worse. Thanks

Answer: Getting liposuction If the contour is related to subcutaneous fat the liposuction can correct the problem. If the contour is related to underlying muscle while the liposuction will be limited in what it can do for you. To differentiate the muscle wall versus subcutaneous fat simply pushing with your finger tip until you feel the muscle while and follow it up and down your abdomen. If you feel the muscle while bulging out then it’s your muscle wall. If you feel the subcutaneous fat layer gets thicker in the area then it’s subcutaneous fat. It doesn’t matter what form or what brand Liposuction equipment is used to. What matters is understanding the primary ideology of your abdominal contour and doing the correct procedure correctly. Your scar doesn’t extend to the area of swelling so I don’t think eschar revision is going to have any impact. Overall you are a slim with a thin layer of subcutaneous fat so based on that I think it’s more likely this may be the shape of your muscle wall. It shouldn’t be difficult for an experienced plastic surgeon to differentiate what is causing your abdomen to have that shape. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Candidacy for vaser liposuction Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photo, I note minimal fat repositories in the suprapubic area. You appear to be a potential candidate for a conservative vaser liposuction. Liposuction involves removal of fat through small pipes (cannulas) placed under the skin under extreme vacuum after pretreatment with an infusion of solution containing a blood vessel constrictor (to prevent bleeding) and an anesthetic (if performed awake). Augmented liposuction utilizes laser energy or ultrasonic energy to semiliquify the fat, making it easier to remove and adds a subtle skin tightening effect.. In general, the experience of the surgeon is more important than the type of instrument utilized. I recommend you visit a plastic surgeon with considerable liposuction experience and allow him / her to use the instrument with which he / she feels most comfortable. Best wishes...
