I am currently thinking about getting rhinoplasty in Turkey. I have found a doctor. I have been sent a simulation of what my side profile could possibly look like. However, I have been told that the doctor does not like to do front simulations because they don't always shows the realistically achievable possible result. Is that a common practice? Or should I be worried that he doesn't do front simulations?

Answer: Are simulations preop reliable? Are simulations preop reliable? I don’t think front or side profile simulations are truly reliable. In every case the simulation draws the perfect or near perfect nose, but in so many cases that is nothing like what the patient actually gets. I therefore don’t do either front or side simulations. But it is true that the surgeon is in greater control of the side profile, than the front. The front simulation involves the width of the tip which is often largely determined by The thickness of the patient skin which is not in the surgeons control. Similarly the width of the bridge is often determined by the thickness and shape of the nasal bones which, again, is not in the surgeons control. So for those who do use simulations, there is more validity to a side profile simulation than a front. If your surgeon does a simulation, ask him to print it and give you a copy of the print for future reference.
