Would I be a good candidate for a revision rhinoplasty? (photos)

By focusing on the tip, its size, shape, and definition can be improved, which may involve cartilage grafting to lift the drooping tip.

Keep in mind that each subsequent nose surgery becomes more complex due to the loss of structural support, scar tissue, and other factors. The importance of experience, expertise, and artistry cannot be overstated. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon, with expertise in rhinoplasty techniques. They will be able to review your surgical history, assess your concern, and determine the best procedure for you.

Hello! Thank you for your question.I have evaluated your case from the information and photos you provided. You are a good candidate for a revision rhinoplasty surgery. During the surgery you will need cartilage (from rib or ear) to support the tip and avoid droopy nose again in the future. With time the tip of the nose can fall down if there is nothing inside to support. With a revision rhinoplasty surgery you can expect a pretty, elegant and more feminine nose.Best regards!

In person exam is essential. Based on posted photos- you appear to be a candidate for Revision Rhinoplasty preferably preformed through a closed technique. I suggest that you seek an experienced Board Certified PS with a wide gallery of before+after photos.

The nose even when it has been operated is not always the same because the tissues tend to change over time due to gravity. If you are thinking of revision the best course of action is consulting with an experienced board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in rhinoplasty surgery. During your consult, the surgeon will evaluate your existing nasal shape and structure and will also take into account any changes that have occurred since your original procedure. One of the reasons is that, in expert hands, elevating the tip of the nose, shortening the nose, is one of the more predictable changes to make, even in a revision.

How *much* to elevate the tip, or make other changes? We figure that out with morphs, well before surgery. I'd love for you to see some excellent professionally-designed morphs of what could possibly be done with your nose. Morphs could also help you identify better just what's bothering you, and help you set a goal for the rhinoplasty that's accurate for your tastes. Profile and three-quarter views would be particularly important in morphing your nose. (Side note: in my opinion, morphs should really be done by the surgeon, or he should direct an assistant as she makes the morphs. Morphs should be made with a constant eye to what actually *can* be done in surgery, for that particular nose, and the surgeon has that information and judgment best.)

Finally, remember that rhinoplasty is an exquisitely difficult operation to get right, and you should only have surgery if you are able to make yourself very confident in your surgeon's skills. The changes that your nose needs require advanced techniques, and skill that most plastic surgeons don't possess with expertise. That said, the feasibility of revision rhinoplasty would require an examination. Based on your photos, it appears that you have a Droopy, dependent nasal tip appearance and perhaps a long nasal septum. If your previous surgeon left adequate septal cartilage for grafting purposes, that would make your revision less complicated. Consider procuring a copy of your operative report and consult with several reputable rhinoplasty specialists who offer computer Imaging. Hope this helps! Dr Joseph
