Can nose taping harm the septum? 7 months post revision septorhinoplasty. (photos)

Question

My revision septorhinplasty is 7 months ago. Reason was again deviated septum and supratip fullness (soft tissue). Unfortunately the relevant supratip region is again slightly konvex (swollen). To manage swelling and try to prevent manifesting scar tissue, I try to tape the nose as much as possible. Does the slight tape-pressure on the nose bridge harm the septum, causing another deviation?

Additionally, it's important to note that it's normal to experience some swelling and fullness in the supratip region during the early stages of the healing process. Hi @sblie. The use of taping the nose post op is to help reduce swelling and prevent the formation of scar tissue. I recommend taping to all my patients. I would discuss  with your surgeon regarding duration of taping.

That said, when there is swelling of the supratip area of the nose, we often recommend a dilute steroid injection to help the swelling go down. This may be a better option than taping. Please consult with your rhinoplasty surgeon so you could see what might be best for you moving forward. Hope this helps! Dr Joseph
