Otoplasty results unsatisfactory? (Photo)

Question

I had my otoplasty ( ear pinning ) surgery performed 4 weeks ago on both ears. One ear was very large and stuck out, but the other ear was what I considered normal but my surgeon insisted I neeeded both done. After the bandage was removed I noticed straight away my ear was still large and the other ear so flat to my head. I also have stitches still poking out which is causing discomfort. The surgeon is cancelling follow up appointments and is ignoring me. Please can I have some advice?

Hello there, I am so sorry to hear that you cannot have follow ups with your surgeon. At 4 weeks, there should not be any sutures visible. If this suture was used to close the skin, it should have been removed at 1 week. If it was used to fold your ear and it is now extruding, it should be cut out. How was the initial outcome when you removed the bulky dressing? Do you have before photos as well? It seems that the left ear superior third of the ear is still protruding. Please try again to contact your surgeon so he can perform a full assessment.
