Mommy Makeover - how many procedures can I safely get done at once?

I have lost a lot of weight, and the goal is to get a Mommy Makeover. In general I would like to get a tummy tuck, lipo, breast lift (no implant), and a bbl. This is a lot that I want to get done, and I wanted to enquire how many of these procedures can I safely get done at once as a part of the Mommy Makeover. Thank you x

A mommy makeover can be a combination of two or more of these procedures performed at the same time. Answering this question depends on your health conditions. Before getting any surgeries, the body must have recovered completely from pregnancies and the patient should be within a few pounds of ideal body weight. This may require changes to the diet or physical activity level; the healthier the body, the more successful recovery will be.

Hi, thanks for your question. The amount of surgeries you can combine into one procedure generally depends on your overall health. That being said, a Mommy Makeover typically combines a tummy tuck, liposuction and a breast lift. At our clinic your BBL would be done as a separate procedure. We don't recommend combining a BBL with the tummy tuck, as recovery would be extremely difficult since you can't put any pressure on either side of your body. We always prefer to keep combination surgeries to one side of the body for this reason. I highly recommend that you book an in person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in order discuss your options and to see if these procedures are right for you.

Combining procedures is common and considered safe, but there is a limit.  Typically elective plastic surgery is limited to 6 hours or less of surgical time.  Depending on the amount of loose skin you have it may be best to break your surgeries into two stages.  Visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

There are lots of variables to take in the consideration. It’s not uncommon for plastic surgeons to try to limit surgery to under six hours.

Increased surgical time increase his chances for complications.

Detail oriented surgeons are going to take longer than those who cut corners.

The stent of each procedure also has a great impact for how long it may take.

Different plastic surgeons have different levels of comfort and to some degree in varies between patient and patient even with the same surgeon.

The age overall health of the patient etc. etc.

Weight loss patients typically do not make for a good liposuction candidates and so one option is to address the skin issues first and foremost then deal with fat distribution issues at a later date.

Every plastic surgeon will have a different limit on how much surgery they will perform at once. Every surgeon also operates at a different speed. Typically speaking, most plastic surgeons will try to keep you in the OR for 6 hours or less. Studies have shown that complications increase dramatically after that 6-hour mark is reached. It is best to discuss with your surgeon what they are comfortable with.
