During liposuction too much fat from the back of my thighs just below the buttocks. As a result, the gluteal fold has dropped significantly from where it was before as there is now a lack of fat in the posterior thigh to support the buttocks. It is very noticeable and dips in unnaturally just below the buttocks. There are also dimples & ripples below the buttocks and on the outer thigh that weren’t there previously. Would appreciate your expert opinions on how to best resolve these issues.

Answer: Unhappy with Liposuction results The banana roll should not be treated with Liposuction. It usually leads to the worst situation or doesn’t treat the problem. In order for us to make an assessment on the outcome of a procedure we need to see comparisons between the before and after pictures. If you don’t have before and after pictures then ask the surgeon who did your procedure to forward the ones they took. We typically make assessments based on standard body pictures similar to how plastic surgeons take our before and after pictures. Pictures with you in the sitting position isn’t helpful. Neither are pictures of you not standing in a straight neutral position. Consider re-posting with proper before and after pictures. Regardless the area you describe generally should not be treated with Liposuction and most of the time when it does the problem patients come in for isn’t fixed or a new problem is created. Typically to correct this Fed needs to be grafted back into that area and this can be technically difficult. Your situation is fairly complex so I suggest scheduling in person second opinion consultations with local board-certified plastic surgeons in your community to see what each one has to say. There’s no one simple way to fix this but if removing fat created the problem then restoring fat with fat grafting probably is a reasonable first option. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
