First I want to start off by saying that you will need to be evaluated by an experienced provider in treating darker skin types before any types of laser treatments that can be recommended to you. Additionally, different problems (acne scar vs fine lines vs uneven skin tones etc) are often best treated by different types of lasers. With darker skin individuals, the risks lay in the increased possibility for hyperpigmentation / hypopigmentation which may result from any resurfacing techniques. Many of the gentler fractional lasers or the picosecond lasers can be used in darker skin patients, but AGAIN you should be fully evaluated before any treatment plans are made.
