I had a Botox facelift 15 weeks ago, and it ruined my smile. Will my face go back to normal? (Photo)

It’s been 15 weeks and I still am smiling like a chipmunk. It is really making my depressed I feel like my face looks gaunt and the skin feels stretchier and the smile lines are very deep. I have tried acupuncture and nothings speeding up the break down of the Botox. Is there any tips on anything else I can do as this is causing me to be very depressed and insecure. I won’t smile in pictures no more. Thanks x

Hello, my name is Dr. Burko and I am a Plastic Surgeon at SY Aesthetics in NYC. Botox is a neuromodulator that there is no reversal agent for. Typically, botox lasts for 3-4 months, and it's effect will then wear off. Once the botox wears off, the muscles there were injected will then begin to be able to contact as they did prior to botox.

I'm sorry you are unhappy with your Botox treatment.  The effects of Botox are not permanent and you should gradually return to your previous look.  On average Botox lasts three to four months but this can vary by patient.  There is no reversal agent for Botox.
