Is filler meant to last 3 years?

Hi, I got lip filler for the first time in 2021, by a board certified doctor. I got juvederm 1ml. She did a beautiful job, looks amazing. But I have never had it touched up and 3 years later my lips are still “swollen.” I can’t feel the filler and they still look good. But is it normal for it to last this long?

Most fillers dissipate over about six months.
Some patients report having long-term volume residuals long after the filler is gone.
This most likely does not represent the filler still being present, but rather a response to the treatment such as the development of inflammation and scar tissue.
We don’t really know why some individuals have residual volume.
 At this point the volume in your lips probably does not represent residual filler.
This means if you were to try to reverse the filler, it probably wouldn’t have much effect.
