The short answer to your question is Yes, I.e. dermal fillers can often help diminish under eye darkness, especially, as in this case, when there are significantly deep tear trough, since the filler can not only elevate and smooth transition between the upper cheek and the under-eye, but create some distance from the underlying blood vessels that are contributing to the darkened appearance. If still necessary for further lightening, a series of in-office superficial peels supplemented by the regular, at-home use of Rx topical lightening agents can further improve skin color. You would be wise to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist who can help you with all these issues. Best of luck.
When addressing concerns about darkness or pigmentation under the eyes, it's important to understand the potential causes and appropriate treatments. Dermal fillers can be effective in certain cases, but they are not a universal solution for all types of under-eye darkness.Darkness under the eyes can be caused by a variety of factors, including:Volume Loss: As we age, we lose fat and collagen in the under-eye area, which can create a hollow appearance and shadowing that contributes to the appearance of dark circles. In these cases, dermal fillers can help by restoring volume and reducing the shadowing effect.Hyperpigmentation: If the darkness is due to increased pigmentation, fillers may not be effective. In such cases, treatments like topical lightening agents, chemical peels, or laser therapy might be more appropriate.Vascular Issues: Sometimes, dark circles are due to visible blood vessels or thin skin in the area. Fillers can sometimes help by thickening the skin, but other treatments may be needed to address vascular issues specifically.Lifestyle Factors: Lack of sleep, dehydration, and allergies can also cause or exacerbate dark circles. Addressing these factors can improve the appearance of the under-eye area. For a personalized assessment, it's best to consult with a dermatologist or a qualified aesthetic practitioner. They can evaluate the specific causes of under-eye darkness and recommend the most suitable treatment options.
Given the hollowing which has occurred along your tear trough, fillers (hyaluronic acid, or PRF gel) would help in restoring that volume and lessen the appearance of darkness under the eyes. PRF may be a safer and better long-term option given the collagen and elastin-boosting properties inherent in the treatment. Furthermore, PRP/PRF has been shown to improve discoloration under the eyes as well.Consult with an experienced provider near you for their tailored recommendations after examining you.
Hi bornslippy!I am sorry to hear that your undereye regions are bothering you. Many patients of mine have the same issue. There are several ways to address the issue. Yet it depends on the reason for the darkness. 1. It can be bc of hyperpigmentation in this case you may need to do several laser sessions. 2. The skin around the under eye area is especially thin compared to other areas of your face and as we age it gets even thinner making the skin almost transparent and thus the structures behind the skin can be seen. - And in this case doing collagen stimulators and dermal fillers, PRP injections may help. / Also energy based devices may help by stimulating collagen synthesis and making your skin thicker so the skin becomes less transparent. I cannot give you the best advice at the moment since I cannot see you in person so I cannot fully assess the reason for your under eye darkness. So I recommend you to go to a professional doctor and get a consultation in person. There are various ways to address this issue and you are not alone ^^I hope this helped. Good luck!
From the submitted photos it appears that the darkness that concerns you is created in part by shadowing from the lower lid contour. Filler may improve this somewhat. It appears you would be a candidate for a lower blepharoplasty with fat grafting. This would improve the appearance of the under eye including the shadowing.
Nannofat is an effective way to correct darkness on the lower lidsNannofat is in fact not fat but similar to exosomes obtained from the patient's own fat
You don’t have any dark pigmentation in the lower eyelid area. It is simply your eye, casting a shadow into the tear trough. If you’re to lie down and look at yourself into a mirror, you will see this for yourself. The best way to correct this is with fat grafting, Fat grafting, when done by Plastic Surgery with lots of experience in fat grafting techniques, should produce Natural and practically permanent results. I hope this helps and good luck from Leonard Grossman MD organic Plastic Surgery.
