Does the depressor septi nasi muscle grow back after being cut during rhinoplasty?

Hi there! Great questions. It's possible that the muscle can grow back, but most of the resistance with movement is due to grafting material placed such as a caudal septal extension graft. The caudal septum becomes "anchored" to this structure which prevents significant nasal movement. That isn't a bad thing because it helps to prevent drooping of the tip over time. You can still see movement after these procedures with smiling - just reduced. Hope this clarifies things!
