Blepharoplasty under skin stitches - do they completely dissolve?

Hi there I have recently had a consultation with a surgeon in Bristol in regards to my under eye bags One thing the surgeon mentioned was that I would require under skin stitches on the orbital bones and at the corners of my eyes. He said these stitches will dissolve but could take anywhere from 2 - 6 months to dissolve. He said I could forgo having the stitching along the orbital bone but it wouldn't look as natural. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time but I am anxious at the thought of there being stitching under my skin. Will the stitches completely dissolve? Could they cause problems? Thank you

It sounds like the surgeon is doing fat transposition lower eyelid surgery. This surgery involves moving your lower eyelid fat into your cheeks to create a smooth transition. Often dissolving sutures are used to keep the fat in position. This same surgery can be done with sutures that are externalized onto the skin and are removed after 1-2 weeks.
