How soon after breast augmentation should I get measured for a bra? It depends on when most of the swelling and stiffness resolves. I tell my patients to wait at least six weeks before spending money on more expensive bras because things can change slightly with the way bras may fit during that time.
+1 Congratulations on your recent surgery; I'm glad to hear that you are please with the results. I would suggest that you avoid spending a lot of money on expensive bras for an additional couple of months. Your breasts will be changing during this time period. Your plastic surgeon will be your best guide when it comes to returns the use of wired bras.Best wishes.
My patients can get one nice bra 3-4 weeks after surgery... to wear out and during work. I do not care if there is wire or not, as long as the wire is not pinching the breast mound/implant. They are not to cinch the straps up until they feel they have settled to that 'perfect' position. Once they appreciate no changes after reaching 'perfect', then they can splurge on the wardrobe and buy what they desire. When my patients are allowed to return to activities, they are asked to get a good sport bra the has wire... as I'm focused on supporting the implant when in high impact activities such as running.
I usually tell patients to wait close to 3 months before splurging on a nice, new bra. I request my patients to wear no underwires for 3 months following surgery, too. At 6 weeks, you will have a good idea of the cup size and shape of the breast, but I find that they continue to change over the next 3-4 months. Sometimes these changes add up to a different bra! Good luck.
