I have noticed my nose is starting to dip in the middle and looks different every day! I' thinkmy right valve has collapsed as when I breathe in this side goes right in. Could that be causing it or is it saddle nose? The dent is a v shape. I have a hole in my septum (not sure how I got it, was tiny at first and only noticed it as it whistled but has grown over time) so could this be causing my nose collapse? I have an appointment in a few weeks but I'm scared Its going to cave in in the meantime

Answer: Caving In Nose Your nasal deformity and compromised airway is likely related to the septal perforation. You do need to see a nasal specialist, but I don't think waiting 4 weeks will make a difference. Correction of your deformity may be challenging, so be sure to seek out a true rhinoplasty expert. I recommend you get multiple opinions. All the Best,Dr. Brian Reagan

Answer: Collapsing Nose I am sorry to hear of your problem.A septal perforation, especially a large one, can cause the dorsum of the nose to collapse, resulting in a saddle nose deformity. The main issue is to determine what caused the septal perforation in the first place. Septal perforations have multiple causes, including trauma, chronic nasal steroid spray use, cocaine use, surgical injury, and a variety of infectious and autoimmune diseases. Whomever you see in consultation will need to determine the cause of the perforation and get it under control before discussing any possible reconstruction.Good luck!
