Eyes burning after rhinoplasty. Is this a result of the surgery or something completely unrelated?

You could have a corneal abrasion or conjunctivitis.  An abrasion is a scratch of the eye which can be painful.   It can happen even if precautions taken.   You should speak to your surgeon and consider seeing an eye specialist for assessment. Fortunately it is treatable and symptoms tend to resolve quickly when treated appropriately.  

You should not have itchy or watery eyes after Rhinoplasty. They sounds to me ;like you may have conjunctivitis. You may want to contact your doctor and have them look at your eyes.

The eyes are generally protected by appointment or tape during a rhinoplasty. This could create some reaction by the conjunctiva that would explain the discomfort as well as discharge. It would be best to discuss this with your surgeon.

Itchy eyes is not common after a rhinoplasty. This may be related to an allergic reaction perhaps to the tape from the splint, or conjunctivitis. Corneal abrasions usually are painful and not itchy. Best to see your surgeon and/or opthamologist.

Burning, itching, painful symptoms of the surface of the eye
with whitish discharge is not a normal complication of rhinoplasty surgery, but
rather more indicative of a chemical, allergic or infectious conjunctivitis or
bilateral corneal abrasion. Either way
one cannot take a chance with corneal injury, potential damage to one’s vision
so it would be paramount for you to immediately seek the advise of your
operating or rhinoplasty surgeon or if there is any visual compromise go to the
Emergency Department and see an Ophthalmologist to ensure that your corneas are
treated effectively and immediately.

Corneal abrasions, conjunctivitis are all imminently
treatable and should leave no long-term injury or damage to the eye, but prompt
attention is necessary.
