Why do some people need to tape their nose after rhinoplasty? What needs to happen that will lead to taping nose after surgery?

From what I've heard some patients need to tape the noses after rhinoplasty in order for nose to heel the right way and not to lean to the side.

I only tape the nose post-op underneath a nasal splint. I do not often tape it afterwards, although there are some that believe it might help.

In our practice, taping of the nose after a rhinoplasty procedure prevents fluid retention from occurring in the supra tip area of the nose. It will not straighten the nose. The Blenderm tape  is applied  at night across the supra tip area of the nose which helps with pressure remodeling of the scar tissue formation of the tip due to fluid retention

Taping the nose after Rhinoplasty is of utmost importance.  The tape goes over the bridge and around the tip of the nose to squeeze the swelling down and prevent hematomas and helps speed the healing process.
