52 year old with breast soreness after quitting smoking; 7 weeks before scheduled BA - is it okay to proceed?
I'm an otherwise healthy 52 year old female that quit vaping nicotine after 7 years (smoked cigarettes for years before that) by using nicotine patches & .5mg of Varenicline (generic Chantix). I quit vaping nicotine 4 weeks ago and started with the 14mg patch along with the Varenicline for 2 weeks, then the 7mg patch for 2 weeks. I'm not sure if I'm in perimenopause or in menopause as I had a partial hysterectomy 3.5 years ago, so I still have my ovaries but no uterus and thus no way to tell if I'm still getting periods or not. Just in the last week or 2, both of my breasts have been tender & sore, heavier feeling & fuller. I have gained about 10 pounds during this quitting process, and some of that is DEFINITELY in my breasts. But I have read that the lack of nicotine can affect your hormonal balance and cause soreness and fluctuation in breast size. My questions: 1. Am I okay to move forward with my breast augmentation in 7 weeks, even with the soreness? (2 days from now I will have used my last nicotine patch, so I will have no nicotine in my system for 6 weeks pre-op). I am following my Dr's orders to the T! 2. Is it better to lose the extra 10 pounds before my surgery so my skin is looser in my breasts so there is more room for the implants? I'm currently about a 34 large A small B, going with Motiva Ergonomix 450cc dual plane. TIA!
