Turmeric Before BA and otoplasty Surgery - 12 days before okay?

Question

I'm having surgery in 12 days (BA and Otoplasty- 3 hrs of surgery). I was told to avoid aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, & other blood thinning meds at least 14 days before surgery. I'm trying to get over my cold also, so have been also taking Emergen-C & turmeric 2x/day. I just read online that tumeric should be avoided at least 14 days prior to surgery as well. I just took it last night, and surgery is in 12 days. Do I need to reschedule my surgery, or am I close enough that I'll be okay?

You will probably be fine if you do not take any more. Please let your surgeon know exactly what you have taken and when. Your surgeon is the one to make the decision.

You will find that different plastic surgeons will have different opinions; in my practice, I would not reschedule surgery. Discuss your concerns directly with your plastic surgeon. Best wishes for quick resolution of your cold and an outcome that you will be very pleased with.

It is very important that you follow the instructions of your surgeon and only your surgeon for pre and postop care. No one here knows what your surgeon's policies are so why not give his/her office a call? I doubt you will have a problem with your scheduled procedure.
