I have type 1 diabetes for at least 21 years now and I am suffering from lypohypertrophy in my thighs and arms which are my main injection areas. Could I inject insulin after the liposuction procedure in the treated area? In case that I can't: would it be better to undergo 2 procedures to treat every part separately giving some time to heal the firstly treated area (to use for injection after healing) then treating the other one?
Answer: Liposuction and Insulin injections: Can I inject insulin after the lipo procedure? This is a question for your endocrinologist or whichever medical specialist treats and manages your type 1 diabetes. Because you indicate that you are suffering from lypohypertrophy in your thighs and arms, ask your specialist if you can rotate into other injection sites such as the buttocks and abdomen if they will not be liposuctioned. After the areas that were liposuctioned heal, you should be able to use those sites again for insulin injection. If there is a lot of scarring from the liposuction surgery, it could continue to impair insulin absorption which your doctor can watch.

Answer: Liposuction and Insulin injections: Can I inject insulin after the lipo procedure? There are other areas that can be used as injection site for insuln after the surgery. The first thing you should do is to secure a medical clearance from your primary care physician or diabetologist for a surgical procedure. Once the lipo-ed areas have fully healed, you can return to injecting insulin on these areas.

Answer: Insulin injections and Liposuction i’m sure there are alternative places to inject insulin. Gluteal area, abdomen, legs shoulders etc. Most likely insulin would still be absorbed the same even if you injected in a treated area but I would check with your endocrinologist and more than anything make sure you check your blood sugars regularly especially after the procedure.I don’t think you need to modify how the surgery is done because of your diabetes. You should get medical clearanceFrom your primary care doctor or endocrinologist. I suggest having a few in person consultation to confirm this is a good procedure for You. My practice is devoted exclusively to Liposuction and fat transfer procedures. I have performed over 7000 liposuction cases. Generally speaking in her thighs don’t do all that great with Liposuction because most people who request the liposuction have significant skin laxity. Outer thighs on the front side of the outer thighs as well on the posterior aspect of the outer thigh often there’s a skin bulge that does not improve from Liposuction. The area often referred to as the banana roll acid transitions onto the outer thigh does not respond well to Liposuction and often creates problems when treated with fat removal. When done correctly arms do fantastically well with Liposuction. Take a look at some of myarm liposuction results posted on my profile on real self.liposuction results are highly operator dependent and I would encourage you to have numerous in person consultation with board-certified plastic surgeons who have extensive experience and are enthusiastic about doing this procedure.not all plastic surgeons are.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: High definition VASER liposuction You should first consult your primary care physician and the specialist that treats your diabetes. Once the areas you have lipo-ed have fully recovered they can be used as injection sites again. However, improper healing or extensive scarring could impair your bodies ability to efficiently absorb the insulin. A Skype or FaceTime consultation with a VASER specialist will help you get an accurate recommendation and pricing. Respectfully, Arian Mowlavi MD, FACS Realself 100 Hall of Fame Inductee
