Red dots like patches after microneedling. Is it normal for these red dots to show up and how long before they disappear?

Hello, Just had my microneedling done yesterday. After the procedure, there's medium size red dots( unlike the size of the needle which is tidy) and shape like a cross on the middle of of forehead. I also noticed there's about 5 similar sizes of the same red dots across my nose. My skin still a bit swollen especially on my forehead. thanks in advance...

Yes it is common, especially if the depth of the needles were changed in the area or there were more passes or aggressiveness done to the areas.  PRP is a great add to microneedling for more improvment.  It is always a good idea if you have any questions to follow up with the nurse or physician who performed the treatment.  Dr. Kaado MD

Thank you for your question in regards to microneedling treatments. It is common for skin to be red and swollen after a microneedling procedure. The length of time the redness and swelling lasts will depend on the depth of the treatment. Typically it would subside within 48 hours. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Redness after microneedling can be typical. I recommend prp,  PDT after therapy with topically applied growth factors to give improvement. I recommend following up with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care. Best, Dr. Emer

After a micro needling treatment it is normal for the skin to be pink or even red like a sunburn, but this all depends on how aggressively the treatment was performed, i.e. how deep the needles are set, how many times the skin is passed over, etc.  Other patients walk out with just a hint of pink.  Usually this redness fades after 12-24 hours.  If you have sensitive skin, rosacea, underlying redness, or if the treatment was "aggressive," then more stubborn red dots can appear, as you say.  These should fade.  If you have any concerns, speak to your doctor.  Be well!

After a micro needling treatment it is common for the skin to be bright red like a sunburn.  This redness fades after twenty-four to forty-eight hours.  Occasionally areas treated more aggressively will have collections of holes or raw areas.  These collection of holes will look like red dots or occasionally scabs or even bruising.
