Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is the yellow part of the blood. Plasma is separated from the blood using a special machine and the yellow solution is what contains a high concentration of growth factors. Concentrated PRP is especially effective for regenerating and healing tissue. We simply discard the red blood cells and only use the plasma for PRP treatments.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) uses a very specific part of the yellow, or plasma part of the blood. This concentrated portion of the blood contains the growth factors that allow for "fertilizing" the part of your body it is to be used on to improve. Whether skin on the face, a scar on your body, or an arthritic joint, the concentrated PRP allows for healing and regenerating of new tissue in those areas. This is an exciting and amazing medicine. Hope that helped!
PRP uses only the plasma and the platelets. There is no rbc or wbc in it. So in answer to your question the red part is not used.
With PRP only the yellow portion is used. This is serum with most of the red blood cell taken out. The red blood cells are what give blood it's red color. When you take them out you are left the serum (which is yellow in color), platelets and tons of growth factors. The platelets are the part of the blood that start the clotting cascade and healing process. When applied topically or injected the platelet rich plasma (serum) has stimulatory effects in the dermis, helping to rejuvenate and tighten the skin. The red part is usually discarded--though I've heard it is great fertilizer for rose bushes. I'm not much of a gardener so I cannot speak to the effectiveness of this use!Best of luck this you,Dr. Amy
With PRP just the central yellow portion is used. This is referred to as liquid gold as it contains rich regenerative factors to stimulate hair growrh
