how does the coagulation laser work ? does it tear damage down ? or make new healthy growth take place ?
The deeper wavelength or NON ABLATIVE is the 1470 nm wavelength, this goes to .7 mm or 7 times the depth of the erbium or ABLATIVE component. Erbium has very little coagulation properties compared to CO2 and even at 100 microns, is relative shallow compared to the PROFRACTIONAL laser component of Scition. This goes 14 times, yes it can penetrate up to 1.4-1.5 mm into your skin. This component of ProFaction has a coag. function. Getting back to HALO the NA component is the one that in theory will stimulate collagen - there are better lasers for scar remodelling, however this laser is designed for SKIN REJUVENATION, namely repair of old collagen, and stimulation of fibroblast superficially. It is not meant for sever solar damage, nor extensive static wrinkles. HALO is a low downtime, gentle rejuvenation laser. If you do require more collagen remodelling, low density Co2 or better still RF Microneedling with PRP can be added to HALO, this will give you BOTH superficial and deep remodelling. Always approach rejuvenation with a goal, and your dermatologist or plastics will customise a plan based upon your downtime, and skin type. All the best, Dr Davin S. Lim. Brisbane. Australia.
