My ophthalmologist said the ptosis of my L eye is worsening and referred me to a plastic surgeon, he is going to perform an eyebrow lift under local anaesthetic in2 days time. What are the aesthetic results like and how long before I look 'normal' ?

Answer: Ptosis So if you had brow ptosis, a lower brow than on the other side then a brow lift under local anaesthetic would be a good treatment. If you have eyelid ptosis which I suspect is more likely then this is a failure of the eyelid opening muscle to function and a brow lift will not really correct this. It will likely leave you with on lazy eyelid and the same eyebrow looking overactive. There is specific surgery for eyelid ptosis depending on the cause the duration and the severity. Ask your surgeon whether the operation is designed to fix a lazy eyelid muscle or a heavy brow. Hope that helps, Adam Goodwin

Answer: Botox for ptosis? Thank you for your question. It's impossible to make exact recommendations without assessing you in-person. That said, Botox will not directly correct ptosis (in fact, ptosis can be complication of poorly-injected Botox), and is unlikely to provide you with sufficient brow lift to compare to the results of a surgical procedure. I would recommend discussing your concerns with your plastic surgeon prior to your treatment. Best of luck!
