Your scar isstill very new, however at 3 months post-op, it is safe to start a course oflaser therapy to reduce pigmentation. Hopefully you’re not experiencingtextural abnormalities, or a “raised” scar. If you are, you may want to startwith a silicone-based cream treatment first, to smooth the scar. Protectingyour scar from UV light (sun exposure) is critical during the first 6 months,as this is a major contributing factor to red pigment in scars.As far as lasertherapy, Fraxel (Re:Store Dual or Re:Pair) can help reduce pigmentation andtextural abnormalities in scars. I would suggest you see a physician whospecializes in laser therapies, and has a variety of lasers to choose from,that way you can be sure you’re receiving the most effective laser therapies.Some other types of lasers we use in scar care include: Portrait PSR,Q-Switched Nd:Yag (Medlite c6 or Alex TriVantage), VBeam Perfecta, Starlux IPL,Smoothbeam, and eTwo.
Fraxel is an amazing laser to remove dark spots. The laser takes about one week to heal on the face. Any areas off-face takes at least 4 weeks to heal. Be certain to consult at expert for the best cosmetic results. Best, Dr. Green

I agree with Dr Emer,I personally would use the Fraxel 1927- 1550 Dual system as it is non-ablative. The CO2, as know is the strongest wavelength, and hence on the side of caution I would rather use several more gentle treatments than an aggressive one with the risk of flaring up your...
