When will permalip feel natural? (Photo)

Question

I had a permalip implant in my upper lip done. I had literaly no upper lip before and I like the way it looks, but the feeling is terrible! I am on my day 5 now and I can´t feel any change from day 1. I can´t smile, the lip is painful and ducky and in 5 days I should see my boyfriend after 2 months and I can´t imagine kissing him! Of course I knew there would be some swelling and discomfort, but I can´t feel any change in these 4 days. When will my lip stop feeling so numb and hard?

Thank you for your question. Lip Implants may be a reasonable option for those individuals who are seeking permanent lip enhancement or for those who have not been satisfied with the longevity of effect afforded by hyaluronic acid fillers.
The Perma Facial Implant is an FDA cleared device for permanent facial augmentation. As the early swelling resolves, the sensations of tightness and discomfort improve with time is most cases. Most people report that it is much improved within a few weeks. If the sensation of tightness persists, lip stretching exercises usually facilitate resolution of that.

Thank you for your question and photos.  The lip is naturally very soft and mobile and after surgery it responds with swelling that also makes is quite stiff as well.  The lips can take several days to a few weeks for the swelling and softness to return after surgery.  During this time one will have peeling of the lip skin and as one goes through these changes it is important to anticipate the changes that occur.  You seem to be on track at five days, hang in and be patient.  Good luck.

Thank you for sharing your question and photos.  Swelling, and the associated discomfort can take up to two weeks to settle however, I would encourage you to see your surgeon for review.  If you continue to find it problematic, although not ideal, the implant can easily be removed.
