I look bigger after lipo? I had lipo done to my lower stomach.

Question

I was awake through out the procedure and they used tumescent fuild and I was just given local! Because I was awake and it defiantly was not pain free! I did move around a lot and complain abit so I feel the doctor cut it short and didn't remove as much fat. I asked him and he said he removed half a litre.... Is this to little? I'm a ideal weight at the moment My main issue is I look double the size I was to begin with. Is this normal? Is this just swelling?

I’m sorry you found your liposuction procedure painful. This was unnecessary, as proper management of fluids and medications should make this a procedure with very little discomfort. However, it’s normal to be swollen after tumescent liposuction. The procedure creates trauma in the body, which triggers your immune system to kick in and control the damage. Swelling is just part of this response and means that your body is functioning well. The swelling peaks 7 – 10 days after the procedure and then slowly improves over months. Please wear whatever compression garment your board-certified dermatologist recommended, and follow any after-care guidelines you were given. I usually encourage patients to walk a lot, as this low-level cardio exercise seems to be the best at resolving the swelling the fastest.

You may have swelling, which can last 3-6 months after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. With liposuction, you will have swelling up to six months. You may actually be at your biggest at the end of the first week. Please wear your compression garment, and follow all your post operative instructions. A half of liter of fat may give you a very noticeable improvement once the swelling subsides.
