Liposuction 11 days post op, on flank more contoured than the other. Too early? (photo)

Hi, I had tumescent liposuction on 12.20. The swelling is decreasing and I'm noting contour irregularity in my flanks. Now I want to see if this is correct in my perspective where it appears one of my flanks is more contoured than the other. Is it too early to make a judgement?

Hi there and thanks for your question and photos. It is too early in your recovery to determine whether your contour is irregular.  It takes up to 6 months to see results after liposuction.  I recommend wearing compression 24/7 for the first 4-6 weeks to reduced swelling and ensure the best results.  I also suggest regular follow ups with your plastic surgeon. Hello. Great question. Congratulations on your procedure. At 11 days you are still early in your recovery process. There is still a lot of swelling present. Swelling misguides the result of your procedure. Be patient, keep following your surgeon's post op instructions.

It is too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which can be asymmetrical and last 3-6 months after your procedure. I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. It is too early to see what your final results will be. Your shape can change on a daily basis for a while after surgery. Simply how you sleep on your areas will cause them to temporarily take on different shapes. Be patient , it will take at least 3 months to see how your final results will look. Dr Crabtree

You are very early in your healing process and do have a fair amount of swelling. Please follow all your post operative instructions and wear your garments. I would suggest discussing your concerns with your surgeon. Massage can be very helpful, especially for the more swollen areas.

Typically, 50% of the swelling dissipates three weeks after liposuction.  80% of the swelling dissipates six weeks after liposuction.  The remainder of the swelling dissipates three to six months after the procedure but you may not see the final results until a year.
