Buttocks implants stitches? I had buttocks implants 8 1/2 weeks ago and I feel like something is poking me.

Question

I dont have any opening or discharge . It looks like an undissolved stitch . My question is : how long does take for the stiches to dissolve ? My PS is not concernd and I trust him but I would appreciatte others imputes .is there anything I can do to help? Massaging the area or applying neosporin is making it worse . Thanks .

It depends on the stitches that were used. Not all surgeons use the same suture material and there are different acceptable options. Many, including myself will use slowly absorbing so-called PDS stitches.These can very well be "poking" in the first months after surgery, but usually they should resolve within latest a couple of month. Kenalog injections after 6 months could help complete resolution.

Dear Magia,    It is difficult to answer your question without seeing your pictures, having information about the technique - sub muscular, intra muscular, sub fascial and getting the exact location of your poking .   If I would have had to guess, it is most likely muscular in nature and should improve with time. Most surgeons use absorbing sutures , which dissolve in 8 weeks , so I do not believe that it is from a suture.   I do not understand why you used Neosporin, which is needed only on raw areas, and at this time, your wound should be completely healed.   Ask your surgeon (hopefully , experienced board certified plastic surgeon)  for more detailed explanation regarding the poking, since he knows exactly what was done and can recommend the best remedy.                          All the best,                                        Dr Widder

The stitch poking is a suture and will last anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months depending on whether your surgeon uses vycril, monocryl, and PDS.
