Would my meds or scopolamine patch cause my eye to dilate ? Surgery was on Friday , dilation today

So my right eye is dilated. Not my left , just the right. I took the scopolamine patch off yesterday and it was behind my right ear. I am wondering if it's a symptom? I have bad allergies and my sinuses always seem to get more stuffy on the right was well. I didn't take any pain or nausea mess since 3:30pm today for fear it could be causes it also? Has anyone else experienced this ?

Scopolamine patches worn behind the ear are common to help manage nausea after surgery.  It is important that you wash your hands after touching the patch.  Touching your eye after touching the patch can result in temporary dilation of the eye.

Thank you for your question. It sounds like that you otherwise are recovering well from surgery, and have no other abnormal symptoms. With that said, what you are describing is common when folks remove their scopolamine patch and touch their eye. This should resolve without major issues. Please do let your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon know what is going on. Please also tell your family member, or whoever is taking care of you as well.

If you touched your right eye after removing the scopolamine patch, you can experience temporary dilation of the pupil. This issue will resolve on its own after a few hours. Thanks for sharing your question. Best wishes.
