Looking to do under eye (tear trough) filler and wanted advice on which filler is better for this area, Teosyal Redensity 2 or Restalyne? Looking for a conservative, natural look. Also, cannula or needle? An MD friend of mine said needle is better since it’s more precise but cannula is “safer”. Thanks in advance.

Answer: Tear Trough I have used both of these types of fillers throughout my career as an injector and they are both good fillers for tear troughs. I have never had an issue with either. However, the type of filler I select is decided after I assess a client is something I do when I examine the area being injected. As for technique I use a combination of needle and cannula. Cannula is my preference for safety in areas of the tear trough that are of greater risk.

Answer: Treating tear troughs I, personally am against using hyaluronic acid, fillers of any kind when it comes to the tear trough treatment. All hyaluronic acid fillers are made of a gelatinous product. Hyaluronic acid fillers, tend to be displaced and create bags in the lower eyelid area in addition to the Tyndall effect, none of which are desirable. The single best filler for the tear trough is your own fat. You only need a very small amount of the fat and the procedure should produce permanent and natural results, as long as it’s done by Plastic surgeon with a great deal of experience in fat grafting. I hope this helps and good luck from New York City Plastic Surgery.
