I've had a couple of dermatologist recommend CO2 laser for the pitted scars on my face (ice pick, box car, and rolling), but I'm terrified of the reviews that I've read. Is it possible to do CO2 laser on only part of the face, for example the cheeks (this is where my worst pitted scarring is) or would that make things altogether uneven?

Answer: Yes but see a specialist Yes, absolutely we do treat scars and smaller areas of concern with CO2 laser. However, in the hands of an expert practitioner the edges are blended to minimise any demarcation. Best wishes, Shobhan.

Answer: Co2 Fractional spot treatments Yes, it is, in fact if you are on the conservative side, one can do small areas, in low density, being very careful to blend in the surrounding skin. For mixed scarring, the idea is to go deep, but have the coverage as low. This will give you better results, and faster healing times. This 'spot' treatment with fractional laser has been well described by a colleague of mine, Dr Adrian Lim in a recent paper.
