Hello, I am a Chinese person and I would like to use my bilateral ear cartilage as a nasal bridge instead of other implants. I do not want any implants in my nose. I would like to ask if you have done this type of surgery frequently before? I see that in your cases, most of them make the high nose bridge lower rather than the low nose bridge higher, so I am a bit worried... If you can answer, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi from Istanbul! Thanks for your question. As a surgeon performing hundreds of ethnic rhinoplasty surgeries each year, I recommend using rib cartilage for nasal bridge augmentation. It provides more robust reconstruction, greater graft material for significant augmentation, and better strength and stability for a higher, more defined bridge. Common concerns like a depressed nose, flat bridge, and large nostrils are addressed while preserving your identity in an ethnic rhinoplasty surgery. Hope this helps, best of luck!

The reason is that your cartilage tends to be curved in everybody. When we raise the bridge of somebody's nose, we like to use a straight piece of cartilage or implant material. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Hello and thank you for your question. I never recommend using silicone implants or ear cartilage for dorsal augmentation. Neither of them work well and have a high rate of revision. Instead, I prefer to use diced Cartilage wrapped in facsia. It is a much better approach in my experience.. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
