The Vectra 3D Imaging machine is an excellent tool that will soon be the standard of care in rhinoplasty. The idea behind the use of this machine is not to guarantee a particular result per se, it is to ensure that the goal of the patient and the surgeon is the same. I use the Vectra in my rhinoplasty practice for this reason alone. I don't want to find out after surgery what I thought was a perfect nose, isn't what YOU thought was a perfect nose. The Vectra allows a singular plan to be developed and to assess each surgeon's aesthetic eye. Consult with multiple Board-Certified plastic surgeons experienced in rhinoplasty. Call their office to ask if they use 3D imaging, and this can help you narrow down your search. Good luck!
Vectra XT is a great tool for any patient considering rhinoplasty or revision rhinoplasty. It helps the patient and surgeon 'get on the same page' when discussing the different parts of the nose. Of course, Vectra XT is a simulation tool and does not know the factors that go into doing a rhinoplasty nor does it know how to do a rhinoplasty. It's simply a strong tool to facilitate communication. We began using it this year and it has proved invaluable for rhinoplasty consults.
Much more important than digital imaging is the experience of the surgeon performing the procedure. Revision rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult procedures to perform correctly in the entire field of cosmetic surgery, so experience performing the surgery matters much, much more then what type of 3-D digital imaging is being performed. Digital imaging is only a communication tool, not a guarantee of results. We use it in our practice more for primary rhinoplasty than revision rhinoplasty. Study your prospective surgeon's before and after revision rhinoplasty photo gallery to make sure it it that it is extensive and reflective of their dedication to the discipline of rhinoplasty.
Remember, imaging software can not guarantee a result as the computer can not account for how the soft tissue respond to surgery or the surgical expertise of the surgeon. You are best to find a good surgeon. Good luck.
Your post raises the question as to why you want to reverse the effects of the tip sutures to begin with. I presume it's because the tip is too narrow or pointy. If the surgery was performed VERY recently (within weeks or so) and nothing else at all was done to the tip as you suggest, the most...
Regarding cartilage grafts, there are several things that must be considered. First and foremost is the flaw, deformity, or functional problem that is to be corrected. The ear is a very favorable source of cartilage, and can be harvested from within the same operative field...
There seems to exist some missing points here; let me clarify:-it is true there is a bridge or dorsal prominence, this is undisputable, however this is the lesser of your problems and the simplest to fix; however... can't be simply "rasped", the grade of bone fusion and prominence is not slight ...
