Is Bellafill also used to treat acne scars on the forehead?

I understand that it is FDA approved for treatment of scars on the cheeks, but can it also be used for forehead scars? Or does this pose a higher risk of complications? Thanks!

Bellafill is the only FDA approved filler that is indicated for use in acne treatment. It can very well be used on the forehead&mdash;and anywhere on the face&mdash;where patients have acne and acne scars. In practice, Juvederm Volbella can be used. Many have found success in Juvederm Volbella smoothing out and dissapating acne scars.

Yes, Bellafill can be used to fill acne scars in the forehead. Keep in mind, acne scars require a combination approach to get improvement with lasers, microneedling/prp, subcision and fillers. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with an acne scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Yes, Bellafill can be used for acne scars on your forehead.  This is especially useful is combined with subcision and some sort of resurfacing procedure such as microneedling procedure with adequate depth of treatment (1.0 - 2.0mm).

v12321   Hello neighbor!  Thank you for your question.  An in person consultation is necessary to determine your best course of action.  Bellafill is the only FDA approved filler for acne scars.  While the approval is for distensible rolling scars, physicians  can use this product  for other scars and in various areas. Hi and thank you for sharing your question here! Bellafill can be used at almost any locations for acne scar as long as it is deflated (not pitted) and its shape can be changed by pulling the skin. Upon examining the scar, if it is determined that filler is indicated, Bellafill can be a good choice. The majority of the time, these types of scars are found on the cheeks, temples and around the chin. Hence, my recommendation is that try to find a highly experienced physician to examine your acne scars and see if you are a good candidate for fillers, including Bellafill. The skin of the forehead is not the same as that on the cheek and the type of scar can also determine whether Bellafill might be able to help improve a scar or not.  In essence, an examination of the scar would be needed to determine if Bellafill might be of benefit or not.  In some cases, it may be possible to treat a scar on the forehead.  There is not a higher risk of complication in treating the forehead rather than the cheek.

Bellafill an be used in acne scars all over the face. It is a bit riskier in this area because of the blood supply. It must be injected by a very experience injector in this area. The additional risks are necrosis and eye injury. Remember it should only be used in rolling acne scars/atrophic which flattened when they are stretched. Careful placement in the dermis is the way to proceed in this area.
