I had 15 units of botox on each of my masseters for a facial slimming effect about a week ago. Today my jaw has been popping when I chew and it is very uncomfortable. I am not in pain the popping just feels foreign and I know it cannot be healthy especially since I wasn't experiencing the popping before the botox. I also read an article recently that implicates long term botox use in the masseters to cause jaw joint problems later on. Is the popping uncommon side effect? Should I be concerned?

I'm not sure how Botox could make the spasms worse since Botox is the treatment for spasms as it relaxes the muscle and prevents the muscle contraction. A personal evaluation would be necessary, so I'd recommend you see your injector and let them check you out. Maybe more Botox is needed in the...
As noted below it is still "early" after your botox. That being said if there are concerns please contact the physician that administered the units to see if they feel anything else needs to be done. Good luck.
Although the illness that you describe likely would have no effect on whether Botox would work for your back tightness, it is best to be healthy when any elective procedure is performed.
