I am getting Botox for spine injury related muscle tightness. I really don’t want to cancel because it wore off a month a go and really helps me to function better and be able to do more. And my appointment is at 8am and their phones don’t go on until 8:30. So I can’t call before and find out. I have to go to the office either way so I’m not a no show.

Thanks for your question. I would be concerned about getting Botox while you have symptoms of the flu. The concern is that some people get the flu confused with a bacterial infection which can have similar symptoms. I would suggest getting your flu like symptoms appropriately diagnosed and postpone your Botox until feeling better.Good luck. Dr. ALDO

Although the illness that you describe likely would have no effect on whether Botox would work for your back tightness, it is best to be healthy when any elective procedure is performed.

The alka seltzer cold is not a contraindication for botox. However, you may bruise more easily. Let your injector know so he/she can guide you appropriately.

there is no issue getting the Botox but you may have an increased tenency to bruise a little due to the aspirin in alka seltzer but check with your doctor to see if you should proceed
