I am looking to close my front gap. My dentist has said that because my bite is tight (upper/lower) that veneers will have problems and four crowns is the recommended solution. I'm a little nervous about jumping right to crowning my front teeth...is that really necessary?
Answer: Porcelain Veneers From this photo is looks like you could be a candidate for porcelain veneers. I would make sure to see an experienced cosmetic dentist for this procedure. Managing your bite is very important here. Good luck.

Answer: Veneers are better than crowns Most of the time, when a dentist says a crown is better than a veneer in the anterior, it means they don't have much successful experience with veneers. Truthfully, veneers are superior to crowns when done properly because tooth structure is preserved. This is important for durability and longevity. Closing spaces means the margins at the gap must be below the gumline and extend to the back of the tooth, more like a 3/4 crown, but can certainly do the job very well.

Answer: How to Close a Front Teeth Gap? Many people decide they'd like to get rid of their gap in their front teeth. The issue is--What's the BEST way to do that?As a Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, we take seriously the intention of "Responsible Esthetics". What that means to me, is let's get a great result, but with serious concern for the mildest approach possible for your teeth. To get a great cosmetic result you DO have to be aware of things like how the bite fits--it really can make or break the final outcome, so it sounds like your dentist is attending to the right concerns. You may be a candidate for No Prep veneers on just the front two teeth. That would be an amazing non-invasive approach! The other thing I'd want to evaluate is how making your front two teeth wider will match the rest of your smile. In some instances, adding width there can look too wide and unnatural. I would try in a simulation of the change so we both could look at it and make it it will look right BEFORE doing anything to your teeth. If the proportion doesn't look right, then you may need four veneers to make the spacing look right. That could still be done in a very mild approach. To wind up with a result that you really enjoy and you're GLAD you did it, make sure to have your most important questions answered BEFORE you begin any work on your teeth.

Answer: Veneers are better options Hi, thanks for sending your question. You should consider veneers to enhance your smile vs crowns, as they are more conservative approach. Another approach will be to consider closing the gaps using clear aligners, like the Invisalign, which can help move and position the teeth together. All the best.

Answer: Veneers Candidate Hello and thank you for your question. The best way to answer this is with an in-person evaluation, but you may be a candidate for porcelain veneers, but it's difficult to tell from your picture alone. I recommend getting a consultation with a Prosthodontist, who can discuss with you the different types of veneers and how many veneers would be recommended. A Prosthodontist is a dental specialist who has advanced training in restoring teeth and can create a customized treatment using the latest techniques.
