Had a mini TT with MR as doctor said I didn’t have enough skin for full. I was never flat after my surgery and now 3 years later I am told that I need a revision with vertical and horizontal muscle repair. I’m nervous about another big surgery. Does this look like it can be repaired with another surgery? I don’t have a lot of skin but my stomach gets so distended shortly after I wake up.I also have a ridge above my scar that is prominent. Do I leave it?
Answer: Considering options An in person evaluation is always best, but some of your photos indicate that you are a candidate for a standard tummy tuck with muscle repair. This would correct the abdominal protrusion that bothers you as well as remove excess skin. I encourage you to visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you.

Answer: Tummy Tuck Revision - Are You a Candidate? Thank you for your question regarding whether you're a candidate for a tummy tuck revision or whether you should accept the outcome. First, let's analyze your pictures. Based on the pictures you've provided, you have mostly muscle laxity and very minimal excess fat and skin. Because the muscle is weak, your abdomen is distended. The abdomen is not distended because of excess fat or excess skin. Therefore, the surgery you need is muscle repair. I would use your prior tummy tuck incision and repair the muscle. This should be done from the sternum to the pubic region. This should flatten out your abdomen. Minimal skin and fat need to be removed. I cannot think of another way to do this surgery. Please speak with a specialized surgeon comfortable with performing revision tummy tucks. In regards to the ridge above your scar, this should be removed with muscle repair and making the skin tighter and releasing the scar tissue in this area. I hope this helps to answer your question regarding whether you're a candidate for a tummy tuck revision or if you should accept your tummy tuck results. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen.
