I have a small "dent" in my cheek right beside my nose that is very evident when I smile. How can a "dent" be treated?

It's only on one side. It has developed in my 40s as I've lost volume. My derm told me she cannot use filler on it because it is close to a vein. She suggested botox to relax the muscle that pulls there when I smile. Does that make sense? Any other suggestions? Thank you for your time.

Thank you for your question.  Without a photo, it is difficult to determine which cosmetic treatment is correct for you.  It is possible that you would need either Botox or filler injections or possibly both.  Please be evaluated by a board certified doctor who specializes in these type of injections to determine the best treatment for you.

This is tough to answer without pictures. Facial sculpting and volume of the face can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra, which would improve a slight indentation. Botox, fat or implants are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Thank you for your question. It is very difficult without a photo. Volums loss can cause dents and they can be minimised by fillers, contact an injector with good experienced .
Around the nose and mouth Botox has to be given very artfully as it can efffect facial expression. 
Choose the treatment and doctor wisely.

Without a photo or better yet seeing you in person, it is impossible to say. In general, I treat "dents" with filler. I don't think Botox would help but you might want to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon in your area to be assessed in person. Hope this helps --

It is difficult to tell without a photo but generally it can be helped with filler. Botox will not really help, but it is a very difficult area to inject and can cause problems.  if injected it must be done very slowly and very carefully
