I’m considering rhinoplasty to improve the appearance of my nose. I’m of Indian (South Asian) descent and I’d like to achieve a more balanced and refined look without altering it too drastically. I’m wondering what specific rhinoplasty procedures would be most effective? Any advice on choosing a surgeon who specializes in this rhinoplasty? How long the recovery process was and what to expect? Thanks.
Answer: Depends on your goals Hi - your best bet is to think about what exactly bothers you the most about your nose, gather some inspiration pics of noses you like and then have a consultation with a plastic surgeon focused on rhinoplasty to discuss your goals and align on a plan that improves profile harmonization. This may include tip refinement, lowering or raising portions of your dose and adjusting your nasal bones.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Your nose has a very wide base with poor projection. You would benefit from a rhinoplasty. You will need cartilage addition to your septum to increase your projection and make it more triangular. You will need the nostrils narrowed internally as well. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you may benefit from a tip refining rhinoplasty. Your surgeon can accomplish this by trimming, suturing, and reshaping the cartilage in your lower nose. Cartilage grafts may also be used to help improve tip refinement. Here is some general advice when considering a surgeon: I highly recommend that my patients focus much more on real longterm before and after photographs rather than 3D imaging. I encounter so many patients in my practice who see me for revision rhinoplasty who previously had surgery elsewhere who feel like they were mislead into surgery by surgeons who relied heavily on 3D imaging without adequate real before and after pictures to back it up. Photoshop is easy but real surgery is very different. I always recommend that you carefully evaluate your surgeon’s online before and after gallery on their website for both quality and quantity of results. Make sure that there are hundreds of real before and after pictures which demonstrate long-term follow up results. If your surgeon is posting mostly on table results without real long-term follow up results, that is usually a major red flag. If a surgeon is posting mostly just splint removal day videos without longterm follow-up pictures, that can also be a red flag. Long-term results are much more meaningful than on table results or 1 week post-op results. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Answer: Rhinoplasty with thick skin. Based on your photos, you appear to have thick and oily nasal tip skin with a broad flat and droopy appearance of the lower 1/3 of your nose. Rhinoplasty surgery may be considered for achieving a narrower, and less distracting nasal appearance. It would be best to choose a surgeon who is experienced in operating on patients with thick nasal skin types. I hope this helps you! Sincerely, Dr Joseph
