I'm 5'3 and 180 LBS. My BMI is 32, is this too high for LIPO/BBL?
Answer: My BMI is 32. Is this too high for lipo/BBL? Thank you for your question. Yes, it's possible to do liposuction and BBL. Many patients struggle to achieve their optimal weight despite diet and exercise. However, to reduce your risks during surgery and ensure optimal results it's important to maintain a healthy, well-balanced diet to prepare for surgery. The closer you are to your ideal weight before surgery the better your result will be. A regular exercise routine is also helpful preparation. By building muscle, you increase your basal metabolic rate. This makes it easier to avoid weight gain, especially in the postoperative period when physical activity is minimal. Cardiovascular exercise strengthens the heart and promotes a faster recovery from surgery. If you have a regular exercise routine, it is much easier to resume these activities after recovering from surgery. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety. Best is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

Answer: Is a BMI of 32 Too High for Lipo/BBL Losing a bit of weight can reduce the risk for complications with surgery, but BMI is just one measure of your fitness for surgery. If your weight is stable and you are healthy, you may be a great candidate. Usually a 5 liter liposuction and a large volume transfer to the buttocks can produce a very dramatic transformation. Find a board certified plastic surgeon who performs hundreds of Brazilian buttlifts and liposuction procedures each year. Look for great reviews and great before and after pictures.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA

Answer: Your BMI is high Based on your BMI you are classified as obese, this is only a number however is an indication of your fitness, plastic surgery is an elective procedure, there is no question that a patient with a BMI higher than 30 has an increased incidence of complications, also the cosmetic result will be less than ideal in an obese patient.Plastic surgery is not weight loss surgery, ideally the patient has to be close to their ideal weight goal and the patient has to understand the limitations of the procedure, a reputable surgeon will tell you that the chances of complications is higher when the BMI is higher than 30, (in a normal patient like your self) BMI is not reliable in body builders or patient with a high muscle composition.

Answer: Lipo/bbl I have treated patients of your size, but the risks are slightly higher. Also, abdominal girth may not be diminished as much as you like since you likely have visceral fat which only improves with weight loss.
