Thanks for your question. It’s not unusual to require three or four treatments with deoxycholic acid/Kybella injections in order to see significant dissolution of submental fat. It would be unusual to see an appreciable effect after just 1 or 2 treatments. So you have to decide whether it’s worth it to you to invest in further Kybella treatments or perhaps you should also seek consultation for liposuction in that area. It’s important to also bear in mind that deoxycholic acid dissolves fat, but it does nothing to firm skin. It is not unusual for patients to successfully lose fat under the chin, and still not be satisfied with their results because the skin lacks sufficient firmness and elasticity to rebound after the fat is lost; resulting in a saggy appearance. This problem needs to be addressed in the initial consultation which is why patient selection is so important for Kybella.
