In March 2022 I had liposuction outside of the country. It healed badly. I have included some picture of original, first liposuction and then had corrective abdominoplasty in the USA in January 2024 and feeling quite terrible about how it looks now. What can be done now?
Answer: Surgery First, please stay in your area to have surgery. The cheapest doctor may not be the best. Second, you could get some improvement with fat transfers or Sculptra injections. Please go to someone who does work with scar tissue. It may take more than one treatment since the scar tissue will only hold so much volume at one time. Some areas could be improved with careful liposuction as well.

Answer: Abdominal Options I don’t appreciate a scar around your belly button so that leads me to believe that you didn’t have a full tummy tuck. If that’s that’s the case then a full tummy tuck would likely be the best option to fully redrape all of the abdominal skin.

Answer: It was the right corrective surgery, done insufficiently An abdominoplasty was the answer to your liposuction problem (you needed a tummy tuck in the first place, but got liposuction instead), but unfortunately, it was performed suboptimally. You currently exhibit, a high scar, and excess skin both above and below the belly button. A revision surgery change the result to something you would be very happy with. In addition concomitant liposuction will also be very helpful at sculpting the abdomen and waist as well.

Answer: Sometimes a thorough lipo can make all the difference. You really do need a thorough lipo of the tummy and sides under local for best results. It is definitely fixable.

Answer: The implication of having multiple revisions As a general statement, having multiple revisions, will generally decrease the potential improvement from each procedure. In other words, the greatest improvement is usually accomplished in the first procedure. There may be some room for improvement with another operation, but your candidacy for a quality tummy tuck outcome was inherently limited by your previous liposuction procedure. Liposuction outcome is highly unfortunate.Had you opted for having a tummy tuck as the primary procedure your potential for a high-quality outcome would’ve been much higher. If a small improvement justifies having more surgery than talk to your surgeon or consult with other plastic surgeons in your community.I generally do not recommend people travel long distances for elective surgical procedures, and Haily advice against traveling outside the country for surgery. Sometimes the best thing to do is to cut bait, except the outcome and stop looking for surgical improvements.Your situation is complex and to get an accurate assessment and better understanding of treatment options you need in person consultations.Any attempt at improving the outcome can also make things worse. Provider selection is as is almost always the case the most important variableBest,Mats Hagstrom MD
