I am sure you are treated by now but for others with similar symptoms, please seek consultation immediately if you experience pain, redness with or without fever at any time after mastectomy and reconstruction. This is likely an infection. It is very unlikely to be recurrent cancer. Lymph node removal and /or placement of implants increases the risk of developing an infection and makes prompt treatment extremely important. Antibiotics should be started immediately. If ultrasound demonstrates any fluid in the breast or axilla , it should be drained and cultured. Generally, quick evaluation and treatment is curative, but occasionally, surgery to clean out or replace the implant may be needed. Good luck and take care.
You should be seen an examined right away. Waiting is not going to help your situation. If you can be seen at a hospital in your area it is better.
Let your doctor evaluate the site with ultrasound. If there is fluid that can be tested and drained away, this may be helpful. Make sure imaging of your cancer site and lymph nodes takes place. Good luck and good healing!
