Ultrasound assisted dermal fillers in the USA?

Question

I am interested in getting dermal fillers and I would like to stay as safe as possible. Recently, I read about ultrasound assisted technology ,unique assistive technology, which uses ultrasound to ensure the safer delivery of fillers. Although rare, complications from injecting fillers in a blood vessel can be stroke, blindness or skin death. Are there any doctors using this new ultrasound technology or something similar when injecting dermal fillers?

there is NO reason to have this done, if anyting you can use IR imaging of veins to help identify vessels prior to injections but those with a strong understanding of anatomy and use cannulas limit lnog term complications.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Hi Thomas,Yes I’m a bit advocate of using my ultrasound device to see where the vessels are prior to injecting filler into the face. However I’m in the UK not the US.

I encourage you to seek filler treatment from an experienced board certified plastic surgeon.  In the correct hands filler treatments can enhance your natural features and be done safely.  I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your injector prior to treatment.

I have not heard of practitioners using ultrasound to identify vessels.  Some have reported that some providers are using vein lights as well. I do not think that these tools add anything to the procedure in terms of making it "safer".  An experienced provider with a very good understanding of facial anatomy,  and is a well trained injector should be enough to minimize risk .

There's nothing safer than a plastic surgeon with good knowledge of facial anatomy and the use of cannula in administration of fillers. I can't imagine a person using an ultrasound device and a needle at the same time. Makes no sense here I hope this helps and good luck from New York City

I believe that slow low pressure injections using a microcannula (in certain areas) and good anatomical knowledge with the treatment performed by an experienced injector goes farthest to minimize any risk associated with these injections.
