Tear trough fillers, early 20s. Are they fixable? (Photo)

Question

Hi all, I have hereditary tear troughs from my dad which I have had since I was a teenager (maybe before) however they seem to have got worse the older I get. The doctor I had an online consultant on with, who seemed extremely knowledgeable has stated that he thinks I should get 1ml in each cheek, to prop up the 1ml/2ml in the tear trough. Is this the best course of action for me? Really appreciate any help, as I’m getting self conscious and feel they make me look far older.

early troughs are treated with fillers, morpheus micrneedling RF and peels at home (enlighten or cosmelan) with proper skin care (vivatia foam, phyto +, reve skin retinol, sente eye, restorsea eye).
There are many things you can do to treat under eye hollows and dark circles. A surgical option to remove skin and/or fat will be the best long term.  However, non invasive less downtime options such as fillers, lasers, microneedling/PRP, cosmelan peels and stem cells can all help give some improvement. I suggest. You get a formal consultation to see what is best for you and your goals.

Tear troughs can be successfully treated with properly placed HA fillers, however, not all HA fillers are suitable for that area.  I would suggest scheduling a consultation to get the best treatment plan for you.

Your observation that your tear trough was inherited from your father is absolutely correct. I would never have a filler injected into the tear trough or lower eyelid where the skin is very thin and in the long run results are rather poor with the movement of the filler and creating a bag like appearance. But this is the option that most non-plastic surgeons will follow. I would recommend you visit a plastic surgeon who specializes in fat grafting. Fad grafting should provide you with a natural and permanent results as long as you go to someone with many years of experience in this procedure. Congenital tear troughs are ready made for filler or fat grafting if done properly by an expert. The problem is the attachment of the muscles on the bone below the orbital rim and the orbital ligament. The proper filler is Juvederm Voluma or Radiesse placed just above the origin of the muscle and below the ligament on the bone. Fat placed similarly, but spread out to allow vascularization, also works well. Make sure you choose an expert with many years experience.
